About me

I have a passion for people and the law and have been involved in the law in one form or another for most of my professional life. During a professional career spanning more than 30 years, I gained experience firstly as a Police Detective, then in the corporate banking environment for the South African Reserve Bank before joining the ranks at the National Prosecuting Authority as a Public Prosecutor and finally practicing as an independent legal practitioner. I also volunteered internationally for a humanitarian organisation.

I am an admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and I am registered as a practicing legal practitioner with the Legal Practice Council (LPC), practicing as an Advocate with a Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC). Apart from a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B), I also possess a B.Com (Human Resources Management) degree, a National Diploma in Police Administration and a Diploma in Business Management. In addition, I have attended many workshops and training programmes in the area of HR and labour law during my professional career.

My passion is Labour Law and I have been involved in labour matters, in various capacities, for most of my working life. I am also an independent legal advisor to HR and Labour Consultants.

My years working as a Detective and a Public Prosecutor gives me a unique insight into criminal defence work and police procedures. I regularly bring bail applications on behalf of clients. I also do some criminal defence work on behalf of Legal Aid South Africa, in addition to being on the panel of legal practitioners for certain legal services insurance companies.

I am skilled in the art of drafting and regulary draft a variety of contracts / agreements for clients and even other legal practitioners.

I am also a trained Mediator and can assist parties with Mediation with the aim to settle disputes without the need to resort to expensive and time-consuming litigation. Mediation is especially helpful to settle disputes relaing to family law (divorce settlements), civil litigation and labour disputes.
